(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated. With AP Photos.) By JOHN MARSHALL AP Basketball Writer No. 1 hasn't been a lot of fun lately. Over the past five weeks, Indiana, Duke, Michigan and Louisville have swapped the top spot in the poll, the second-longest streak since the first Associated Press poll in 1949. Indiana was No. 1 the first five weeks of the season and moved back to No. 1 this week. The Hoosiers became the latest top-ranked team to take a tumble Thursday night, losing to unranked Illinois after giving up an uncontested layup at the buzzer. With an expected new No. 1 next week, that will be six weeks in a row with a new team atop the poll, the longest streak since five teams traded the top spot over seven straight weeks in 1994. |
